Talent Arena 2025with Mobile World Capital Barcelona

The first edition

Talent Arena held its first edition from 3 to 5 March 2025 in Hall 8 of Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc, while MWC Barcelona 2025 was taking place at the Gran Via venue. It was organised by Mobile World Capital Barcelona and, for the first time during MWC, an event brought technology professionals together to talk about artificial intelligence, software development, cybersecurity and quantum computing.

The event was designed for developers, tech companies and educational institutions, with one aim: to learn, connect and grow professionally. Its starting point is a challenge, boosting digital talent to meet the sector’s growing demand, which is why the programme went beyond talks: programming workshops, mentoring, an exhibition area and developer events such as the GSMA Open Gateway DevCon and the Open Gateway Hackathon.

The speakers included Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov, Pilar Manchón and Xavier Amatriain from Google, and Antonio Torralba from MIT. The talks covered Europe’s technological sovereignty, the evolution of generative AI over the last decade, the challenges of managing digital talent and where AI meets programming.

What we set up

At Talent Arena we set up Captions on the auxiliary screens around the venue. The speakers’ words appeared as text in a band along the bottom of the screens, and the audience could read them as they were spoken, wherever they were. There was no need to change the production or add screens: we connected the captions output to the screens already running at the venue.
