Two days at the Llotja
Tech Spirit Barcelona held its sixth edition on 10 and 11 December 2025 at the Llotja de Mar, the building on Pla de Palau that is now the headquarters of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. Tech Barcelona organises it, and that year the Chamber joined as co-organiser for the first time.
Its motto, “Dual World. One Tech Spirit”, invited people to look at the tensions in technology (mind and machine, natural and artificial, vision and execution) with one shared goal: building technology that serves people. At the opening, Tech Barcelona’s president, Miguel Vicente, made the case for purpose-driven technologies that bring sovereignty and competitiveness and improve people’s lives, and the Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, called for citizens to be put at the centre of innovation.
Two stages, three languages
The programme ran on two stages, the CaixaBank DayOne Stage and the EAE Stage, with sessions in Catalan, Spanish and English on entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, public and private investment and the leap from science to market.
Author and science communicator Elsa Punset talked with Muriel Rovira-Esteva, from EAE Business School, about how AI is changing the way we think and relate to each other. Sacha Michaud (Glovo) and Rob Cassedy (Wallapop) looked back on more than a decade at the helm of two of the city’s unicorns, and David Sanmartín, co-founder of Nothing, explained how the brand has grown by standing out in a sector of giants.
On the second day, the final of ACCIÓ’s Catalan Pitch Competition named Shinephi, an ICFO spin-off that measures nanoscale structures in semiconductor manufacturing, Catalan Startup of the Year 2025.
What we set up
At the Llotja de Mar we brought Captions to the auxiliary screens that relayed the stage among the columns of the hall. Next to the speaker and their slides, a band showed what was being said, live and in Spanish.
